Stressed about your upcoming math test? No worries, we at Youth Tutoring are here to provide our top 7 tips to ace your upcoming math test with flying colours!

  1. Pomodoro Technique: If you have trouble focusing on one task for a long amount of time, then this is a great technique for you to try. Using the Pomodoro Technique, you work for 25 minutes, then take five minutes off. After four consecutive work intervals, workers take longer breaks, usually 15 to 30 minutes. Math problems benefit from this method especially well, since a short break helps you come back to them with a clearer mind.

  2. Start revising early: Math is a complex subject with a lot of concepts that build on one another. To properly absorb the course material, you should revise it a week in advance.

  3. Teach others: Try to explain your math problems to your parents or siblings and get them to understand what you are teaching. Your confidence in understanding the material will increase as a result.

  4. Highlight key concepts: Math can get complicated pretty quickly. The most important topics and definitions for each section should be highlighted to eliminate irrelevant information.

  5. Write out the steps: while revising for a math test, it is very important to write out all the steps to complete an equation. Generally, teachers give very few marks for getting the correct answer, most of the marks are given if you follow the proper steps. So take your time and make sure not to skip any steps!

  6. Have a good night's sleep: Making sure you have a good night's sleep the night before your test is important. Get a good night's sleep so that you can remain focused during your test and not miss any important steps.

  7. Ask your teachers questions: It's the teacher's job to help their students. Ask your teacher to review any concepts you may be having trouble understanding a few days before the test.
